European Patients’ Academy (EUPATI) Patient Education
In early 2017, the Malta Health Network worked in collaboration with EUPATI to proof-read several documents relating to important information for patients. The original language used was English and were professionall translated to the Maltese language. The Malta Health Network proof-read the documents using native Maltese speakers in order to make sure the translated material made sense to the native Maltese speaker/reader.
Through the assistance of volunteers, the document was checked for any words/phrases that either do not make sense or that are rarely in use by the Maltese speaker to facilitate understanding of the document.
EUPATI have recently released guidance documents with the aim to support the integration of patient involvement across the entire process of medicines research and development with regulatory agencies, health technology assessment (HTA) bodies, ethics committees and the pharmaceutical industry. Wit Maltese being an official European language, it had to include a set of guidance documents available to the Maltese public in the Maltese language.
